Wanting to play a certain track from MicroSD on Chord Poly, but the glider App is playing a different track from another artist

Can you place just one of these albums on your SD card, delete and reinstall Glider from TestFlight and let me know what happens.

I am able to play the songs but it doesnt have album art and showing unknown album. This has happened many times. when i load more albums, the problem shows. And the album arts will mixed up with other albums… not all but many. now this is only one album. If i were to load more albums. There will be albums for sure that will be categorised as unknow artist and unknown album and all the songs will be mixed up again

So this is with just the single album on the SD card? Can you also post a screenshot of the settings view in Glider?

Yes… that was just from a single album. After that I put a few more albums into another fresh mSD card, delete the app and install again…

Can you open those files on your computer in a tag editor to confirm the metadata is present (kid3 for example: https://kid3.sourceforge.io)

First download the kid3 application and launch on your computer. Then mount the SD card on your computer and open the DSD files from the file -> open menu in kid3. Then you should be able to see the metadata (or lack of metadata) that’s embedded in each DSD file.

I don’t think there are anything wrong with my DSD files Joe. I have some wav files that i copy from cds that doesnt have album arts but there weren’t loaded to the mSD drive earlier. Let me show u an example from the above. If u see the above picture that i just sent, it has the rest of the songs with no album art or artist name. Now let me show you what kid3 says about my album. I purchased this album from HDtracks and they are all good. If u see another example, the same album has the other coverart from another album shown.

Can you open the Settings view in Glider, press the Sync button next to your Poly and confirm that the sync fully completes, and does not get stuck displaying ‘Syncing’ or ‘Verifying Metadata’?

They can finish syncing and verifying metadata. Each time they finish syncing, the song count changes. I load about 15 albums this time with DSD, Flac and Wav formats. The problem is now they are playing different songs from different albums again. Not all but most of them… this is so frustrating.

If you’re seeing the Verifying Metadata label on each sync, that means that the metadata verification is failing.

Since you’re running a test build of Glider, I’m able to see some remote logs from your device that are telling me that the network requests are failing while attempting to download the metadata for those DSF files. This either means you’re having network trouble or the Poly is unable to serve the files Glider is requesting due to some other reason.

I found the issue. it’s related to unstable home wifi network most likely. I turn poly into hotspot mode it seemed ok for a few days. Last night I added 2-3 albums and glider is playing another track from a different album again. I will try to delete the metafile and see if everything is ok.

At first, I thought it’s my home WIFI having this issue, I change my settings and turn my poly into Hotspot, and use my mobile phone 4g network for internet. It worked as I was able to sync, verifying the Metadata. After testing for a few days and as I purchased more albums from HDtracks and put them into my microSD and load Glider, the same problem happened again. it cannot finish the metadata.

I understand if my home WIFI maybe unstable but the hotpot of poly and the 4G internet on my phone is very stable. I am not sure why am I still having this problem of playing the songs properly.

Most of the new albums loaded it were ok, then when I play the old existing albums, they start playing some other songs. I don’t know what to do already…

Can you please try the following:

• Set your Poly in Hotspot mode and connect your phone to Poly’s hotspot
• Delete Glider and re-install from TestFlight
• Now attempt to reproduce the problem without switching network modes

Hello, I am having a similar issue. In my case, the SD card has 2K untagged wav files organised in folders by artist > album. Each album folder contains the album cover jpg. In my case, I can browse through the folders and play the songs. The artists remain “unknown” as expected due to missing tags in the wav files. The album cover in the folder is overlooked, and in its place glider shows pictures of albums that have nothing to do with the actual music file. I am afraid that untagged wav files are a case which is managed badly by the system. Can this be the case?

What’s likely happening here is that Glider is picking up at least one cover art for the group of all songs that have been placed in the ‘Unknown Album’, and is showing that album cover for all of your unknown songs. I’ll look into fixing this.

But you can fix this on your end by simply adding the appropriate metadata to your WAV files. It’s a common misconception that WAV files can’t contain metadata, but this is not true. Most tag editors work just fine with WAV files, including Kid3: https://kid3.sourceforge.io/.

I have always preferred to avoid tagging wav files as some programs can fail managing them. As for the covers, why doesn’t glider look for pictures in the working folder?
